Behavioral Health

MidHudson Regional Hospital is the region's leader in providing behavioral health services.

Visitation for Behavioral Health Patients

  • Visitors are welcome Tuesday through Sunday, between the hours of 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Only one visitor allowed per day.

  • Visit duration is one hour maximum.

  • Before visiting, please contact the Behavioral Health Nursing Unit for specific restrictions.

The Behavioral Health professionals at MidHudson Regional Hospital believe that people can make improvements in their lives.  Our focus is on the changes in thinking and behavior that occur over the course of a lifetime.  These changes may include self-image, relationships with others, vocational adjustment, use of leisure time, and the ability to plan for the future.

Self-defeating behavior patterns and plans for changing them will be explored.  In each case, the length and focus of treatment will be jointly determined by the individual and his/her therapist.

We are dedicated to assisting individuals to achieve goals meaningful to them.

Emergency and Inpatient Services

Emergency and inpatient behavioral health care services provide acute stabilization for adult and adolescent patients. Outpatient behavioral health services provide therapy for all ages including specialized adolescent intensive services. All behavioral health services are licensed by NYS Office of Mental Health.

Through our revolutionary telepsychiatry program, behavioral health outpatients and staff at MidHudson Regional Hospital are able to connect remotely with clinical psychiatry specialists at Westchester Medical Center’s Valhalla-based Behavioral Health Center.  This greatly increases a patient’s access to convenient, expert care, reduces travel time, and increases patient satisfaction.

The American Psychiatric Association wholly endorses telepsychiatry as a vehicle for behavioral health treatment, saying "Telemedicine in psychiatry, using video conferencing, is a validated and effective practice of medicine that increases access to care. The American Psychiatric Association supports the use of telemedicine as a legitimate component of a mental health delivery system to the extent that its use is in the best interest of the patient and is in compliance with the APA policies on medical ethics and confidentiality."

MidHudson Regional Hospital's Military Wellness Program is an outpatient mental health treatment program specialized for military personnel, veterans and their families.  The program is based at the hospital and is available to serve the estimated 51,000 military veterans residing in the mid-Hudson Valley, all members of their families, as well as active military personnel and reservists stationed in the region.

Active military personnel and veterans deserve a broad array of services in locations convenient to their homes.  MidHudson Regional Hospital, the only hospital in Dutchess County providing both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services to the community, has created this unique program employing evidence based methods to help meet this need.

The Military Wellness Program works in cooperation with existing programs to provide the most comprehensive array of services to the active service members and veterans in the Hudson Valley.

Those most familiar with the needs of local veterans have repeatedly commented on the impact of the veterans’ military service and their return to community life on their families. Spouses, parents, children, and siblings are all vulnerable to experiencing their own adjustment problems, and the MidHudson Regional Hospital Military Wellness Program offers a full range of mental health assessment, treatment, and support for them as well.
