MidHudson Regional Hospital’s Girls’ Night Out Event Draws 200 Women to Celebrate Women’s Heart Health
Nearly 200 people attended Girls' Night Out, a fun, invigorating evening celebrating women's triumphs over heart and vascular disease, on March 7 at the Grand Hotel in Poughkeepsie. Proceeds from the event benefited the WMCHealth Heart and Vascular Institute at MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth).
The annual event was an evening of celebration, inspiration and education featuring shopping, mini-makeovers, a delectable meal and entertainment by comedian Regina DeCicco. Radio personality Michelle Taylor of Q92.1 WRNQ-FM's Joe and Michelle in the Morning emceed the event.
Former patient Christine Boehlert of Poughkeepsie shared her story of triumph over vascular disease alongside her doctor Joseph Fulton, MD, Chief of Vascular Surgery at MidHudson Regional Hospital. Christine was diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) after a mosquito bite she got on the golf course failed to heal and doctors discovered that it was a much larger problem, involving a significant blockage in her right leg due to build-up of plaque. After undergoing surgery with Dr. Fulton to remove the plaque, Christine is back on her feet and doing well.
The event was an important fundraiser for WMCHealth's Heart & Vascular Institute. The Institute has the Hudson Valley's most comprehensive cardiac care program, offering a wide range of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and vascular surgery services to patients of all ages.
If you missed MidHudson Regional Hospital's Girls' Night Out event, another Girls' Night Out event supporting St. Anthony Community Hospital will be held on May 16.
