MidHudson Regional Hospital Adds Three New Physicians Offering Ear, Nose, and Throat Care

MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, continues to advance the level of care available locally in the mid-Hudson Valley. Beginning October 26, three new ear, nose and throat doctors will hold office hours at the Poughkeepsie campus. Steven Hemmerdinger, MD, FACS; Deya Jourdy, MD; and J.K. Rasamny, MD, have joined the medical staff to provide state-of-the-art, advanced medical and surgical solutions for diseases and disorders that affect the ears, nose, sinuses, throat, voice box, face, and neck.

Dr. Steven Hemmerdinger is a board certified otolaryngologist, who maintains an affiliation with the Westchester Medical Center Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as an attending physician. He treats both adults and pediatric patients suffering from a wide variety of ailments, including but not limited to ear infections and hearing loss, throat infections, deviated septum, sinusitis and nasal polyps, hoarseness, thyroid and parathyroid dysfunction, salivary gland disorders, head and neck tumors, facial trauma as well as an increasing focus on sleep medicine. Dr. Hemmerdinger completed both his medical education and residency training at New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Deya Jourdy is a board certified, fellowship trained sinus and endoscopic skull base surgeon/specialist and co-director of the New York Sinus Institute. After attending Cornell University for undergraduate and medical school studies, Dr. Jourdy completed residency training at the Columbia and Cornell campuses of the New York Presbyterian Hospital. He then completed additional sub-specialty training with an internationally recognized premier fellowship in rhinology, sinus surgery, and endoscopic skull base surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Jourdy has extensive experience utilizing minimally invasive surgical techniques for the treatment of diseases of: the sinuses, anterior skull base and brain, pituitary gland, and orbits (eyes), and can treat disorders in these regions without external incisions. Dr. Jourdy treats a wide range of sinonasal diseases and symptoms, including sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, deviated nasal septums, nasal congestion, nose bleeds, smell and taste disorders, mucoceles, epiphora, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, pituitary tumors, and sinonasal/skull base tumors (benign or malignant).
Dr. J. K. Rasamny's practice focuses on the care of pediatric and adult patients with malignant and benign tumors of the head and neck including cancers of the oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx, tumors of the paranasal sinuses, endocrine tumors involving the parathyroid and thyroid glands, tumors of the major and minor salivary glands, and cutaneous malignancies including melanoma of the head and neck. Dr. Rasamny is trained to perform open and endoscopic approaches for the treatment of tumors of the skull base and paranasal sinuses as well as complex reconstruction of head and neck defects. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and completed medical school at the University of Virginia, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
