Xiang Da (Eric) Dong, MD, FACS, a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist, has joined the medical staff at MidHudson Regional Hospital. Dr. Dong specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancer, including colon, esophageal, gastric, liver and pancreatic cancer. He's also actively involved in the management of patients with endocrine disorders.
Prior to his arrival in the Hudson Valley, Dr. Dong practiced surgery at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut since 2007. While there, he served as the director of surgical oncology and the cancer liaison physician. Dr. Dong has been named to the Castle Connolly Top Doctors of the New York Metro Area as well as Best Doctors of Fairfield County, Connecticut. He has a long history of educating the next generation of medical professionals, and has served as the site director and assistant clinical professor for Columbia University medical students and Stamford surgical residents. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed papers on various topics regarding cancer.
Dr. Dong received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and attended medical school at Duke University. He completed an internship at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and trained in general surgery at Drexel University in Philadelphia. He later completed a three-year fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Dong will practice as part of the renowned Redl Center For Cancer Care. Accredited by the prestigious Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and the American College of Radiology, the Redl Center For Cancer Care offers advanced treatments for all major cancers including breast, lung, colon/digestive tract, prostate, bladder, lymphoma and melanoma. Patients benefit from the collective expertise of board-certified and fellowship-trained surgical, radiation, and medical oncologists and the specialized skills of certified oncology nurses.
