Herb and Sue Ann Redl Center For Cancer Care

Don't let a potential diagnosis frighten you and your loved ones. MidHudson Regional Hospital is prepared to address your health concerns by focusing on your diagnosis and treatment from day one.

A cancer diagnosis can have a frightening impact on a patient and their family. The Herb & Sue Ann Redl Center for Cancer Care at MidHudson Regional Hospital is an ideal setting for addressing the overall impact of cancer as well as focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of the disease itself.

Accredited by the prestigious Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and the American College of Radiology, our cancer center offers advanced treatments for all major cancers including breast, lung, colon and other digestive tract, prostate, bladder, lymphoma, and melanoma.

Patients benefit from the collective expertise of board-certified and fellowship-trained surgical, radiation, and medical oncologists and the specialized skills of certified oncology nurses. The Center for Cancer Care is a member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and is conveniently located in The Atrium, with easy access to imaging and radiology services as well as radiation therapy.

The Infusion Center offers convenience for patients who require intermittent and continuous infusions. Services are available to a diverse population of patients who do not require hospitalization, including cancer patients requiring chemotherapy, patients requiring antibiotics, transfusions, and IV treatments for arthritis, osteoporosis, and neurologic disorders. The Center is staffed by advanced practice registered nurses who provide skilled patient care while working to ensure physical and emotional comfort. They provide patient and family with education regarding the disease process and information on medications they are receiving, including the side effects.

Thanks to a generous donation, individual televisions were installed at each chair to provide comfort and privacy for patients during infusions. With appropriate physician referral, the Infusion Center accepts patients covered under a wide variety of insurance plans and will assist with insurance issues and pre-authorizations.

What sets the Breast Center at MidHudson Regional Hospital apart from other centers in the mid-Hudson Valley is the presence of a full-time certified breast care nurse, the first in the region also to be credentialed as a certified breast patient navigator in imaging and cancer.

From the moment a patient calls the center, our certified nurse becomes intimately involved in the patient’s care. She works closely with breast center staff, physician offices, radiology centers and pathology departments to obtain patient records, schedule patients for additional diagnostic tests, and surgical consultation. The patient care navigator assists patients during surgical consult, exam, and diagnostic procedures, remaining with the patient throughout the process explaining why each step is necessary and what to expect at each step. She refers patients for complimentary and supportive services, is available for patient and family education, and insures timely follow-up and surveillance.

Complementary medicine has proven to be highly effective as an aid in the fight against cancer. We offer complementary medical services to those living with breast cancer including reflexology, massage, and exercise or yoga classes. These services are free of charge to our patients through generous funding from Miles of Hope, a Hudson Valley foundation that provides makes gifts to non-profit organizations for support services and outreach for those affected by breast cancer
